Registration Requirements

Purchased from an Alabama dealer:

• If it is within 10 days from the date of purchase, you can take advantage of EasyTag.
• This is only available for vehicles purchased from an Alabama dealer.  
• Application for Title.
• Sales invoice (Bill of Sale) to verify sales tax was paid
• Proof of Alabama Insurance 
• Driver's License (of each person on the title, if more than one) 
• If it does not have your current Lee County address on it, you will need proof of residency (power bill, cable bill, lease agreement,  homestead paperwork, or Affidavit of Residency).  
• Tag receipt from old vehicle if transferring tag from a trade in.
• Ask about credit voucher on vehicle traded in or sold.
• Sales invoice from dealer will need to show trade in listed to receive credit voucher.
• If not, then you will need written confirmation of disposal of vehicle with dealer.
• If sold by owner, copy of Bill of Sale 

Purchased from an Out-of-state dealer:

• Original Title or Application for Title (or MSO/Certificate of Origin if new vehicle).
• Sales Invoice (Bill of Sale) to see how much sales tax is owed.
• Proof of Alabama Insurance 
• Driver's License (of each person on the title, if more than one) 
• If it does not have your current Lee County address on it, you will need proof of residency (power bill, cable bill, lease agreement,  homestead paperwork, or Affidavit of Residency).  
• VIN Inspection (This may be completed by any of our 3 offices or a law enforcement representative). (Vehicle Inspection Form)
• Tag receipt from old vehicle if transferring tag from a trade in.
• Ask about credit voucher on vehicle traded in or sold.
• Sales invoice from dealer will need to show trade in listed to receive credit voucher.

Purchased from an Individual (Alabama title):
